Five Years Fighting for a Cause

Chicago Open Water Swim July 23rd

Join our latest Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush topic of conversation on sports injuries and injury prevention; comments and insights throughout the season from team physicians for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Fire Soccer Club, Women’s U.S. National Soccer team, Men’s U.S. National Soccer team, DePaul University and more; and the latest in orthopedic news and events.

In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer.

Patti Piasecki is back at it again, training for her 5th year as a swimming fundraiser in the Chicago Swim Across America (SAA) event, the largest national non-profit organization with the mission to fund cancer research at world-renowned hospitals, including Rush University Medical Center.

As a Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush orthopedic oncology nurse practitioner, cancer patients are near and dear to her heart.

On July 23rd, Patti will take off from Ohio Street Beach and continue out into Lake Michigan for a half mile. With daughter Morgan and MOR physician assistant Kyle Pilz on her team, she will swim with the hope that each stroke brings her closer to drowning out cancer.

Patti’s goal is to raise “crazy amounts of funding” along with her team and the other participants. MOR is proud of Patti’s contributions in the fight against cancer.

To contribute to Patti’s effort, visit Swim Across America.

Join swimmers of all ages and skill levels for the SAA – Chicago Open Water Swim in beautiful Lake Michigan. Choose either the 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 1.5 mile or 3 mile option to support cancer research and leading-edge patient care at Rush University Medical Center.
