Dr. Josh Velarde, DPT from ATI Physical Therapy discusses the difference between acute and chronic injuries and pain and their effect effect on the body; methods that can prevent injuries from becoming chronic: over-training, body mechanics, posture, stretching and balance of conditioning different muscle groups, catching pain early and stop training when it occurs.

Josh received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry at Illinois State University and then went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy Degree at Governor’s State University in 2010.  He accepted a position at ATI Physical Therapy in the western suburbs of Chicago directly following his doctorate program.  He is currently the clinic director of this outpatient orthopedic clinic.  Josh works with a diverse patient population – with a special interest in postoperative and sport rehabilitation.
